Harver Assessment: What to Expect, Including the pymetrics Games

Introduction

If you have applied to a call center, retail, or high-volume role and been sent a Harver assessment, you may be facing a mix of situational judgment questions and a set of short games. Those games come from pymetrics, which Harver acquired, and they behave differently from a standard test. This guide covers what Harver is, how the games are scored, and the retake and privacy rules worth knowing before you start.

Quick answer: Harver is a volume-hiring assessment platform that combines situational judgment tests, personality questionnaires, and gamified behavioral games from pymetrics. The pymetrics portion is about 12 games taking roughly 25 minutes, scored on behavioral traits rather than right or wrong answers, and matched against a role benchmark.

What Harver is

Harver is an online pre-employment testing platform built for volume hiring, marketed heavily to BPOs, contact and call centers, and retail. It has rolled up several assessment brands — pymetrics, OutMatch, FurstPerson, and Checkster — all now under Harver.

The assessment is modular and customized per role. Depending on the job, you might see:

  • Cognitive ability (logic, reasoning, math, verbal, spatial)
  • Situational judgment tests
  • Personality questionnaire
  • Gamified behavioral games (pymetrics)
  • Learning agility, job knowledge and skills, live chat simulation, spoken language, and multitasking modules

The traditional behavioral Harver assessment is short, about 7 to 12 minutes, and can be completed on a mobile phone. Its personality questionnaire assesses six work-approach traits — ambition, ownership, empathy, communication, learning motivation, and improvement. Named customers include Booking.com, Alorica, TTEC, Sitel, and Teleperformance, per an independent prep guide.

The pymetrics games legacy

Harver acquired pymetrics, and the old pymetrics site now redirects to Harver. Prep vendors date the integration to around 2022, especially for customer service and call-center roles. For the games specifically, JPMorgan rolled them out in 2019, and BCG, PwC, and Accenture have used them as well.

Harver's own site states the pymetrics assessment is 12-plus interactive games, takes about 25 minutes, and has a 98 percent completion rate. Third-party guides put it at 12 games in roughly 25 to 35 minutes. The games measure soft-skill traits such as effort, risk tolerance, decision-making, attention, focus, learning, fairness, generosity, and emotion. Example games include matching faces to emotions, inflating and popping a balloon to collect money, choosing money now versus later, exchanging money, and building towers.

Here is the honest part. pymetrics positions the games as having no right or wrong answers — they map your behavior to a trait profile and compare it to a benchmark built from a role's top performers. That framing is real, but candidates remain skeptical. Editorial coverage describes the games as no big deal and comparable to casual phone games, yet notes graduates have complained about being rejected after playing, with little clarity on whether a poor outcome sinks the whole application. The heavy demand for third-party prep packs suggests candidates find the format opaque despite the no-wrong-answers claim.

Retake rules you should know

Harver's retake rules have two separate layers, and both matter.

pymetrics games. You can replay the games only once every 330 days. If you completed the games within the last 330 days, your prior gameplay is reused rather than replayed — the same data is re-assessed against the new role profile. One consequence is that your profile can be matched to roles you did not originally apply for, and industry commentary has flagged this silent score reuse across employers as a candidate-awareness concern.

Harver core assessments. You cannot unilaterally retake. Harver support directs candidates to contact the employer directly, and only the company can authorize a redo. If a redo is approved, your account and all personal data and test results are deleted, and you re-register from the start.

Proctoring and privacy

In April 2025, Harver introduced fraud detection and proctoring features, available in its Hiring Studio and configured per vacancy. Three capabilities are worth knowing:

  1. Periodic photos of you during the journey, viewable by the recruiter to confirm identity or detect a second person. Photos are only taken if you consent, and consent can be optional or mandatory depending on the vacancy and country.
  2. Copy-paste prevention, which blocks cut, copy, and paste to hinder use of tools like ChatGPT.
  3. Change-focus detection, which spots tab or window switching, warns you the first few times, and notifies the recruiter if it happens too often.

Harver states no AI is involved in the photo review — the images are simply shown to the recruiter. When proctoring is on, expect consent, permission, and image-check pages before your modules begin.

What candidates report

  • The games themselves are often described as low-stress and similar to casual mobile games.
  • The main frustration is opacity — it is unclear how a given performance maps to a hire or reject decision, and some graduates report rejection after the games.
  • Score reuse is a recurring worry, since one gameplay dataset can be re-scored for other jobs within the 330-day window without you replaying.

Prep tips

  • Find a quiet, uninterrupted block. The games run about 25 minutes, and some employers set a completion window, such as BCG's reported 48 hours once you start.
  • Answer consistently and naturally. The games measure behavioral traits, so trying to fake a profile is difficult and can misfire.
  • Get comfortable with the mechanics. There is no official Harver practice test, but third-party prep packs simulate the game types if you want to reduce surprise.
  • Check the mobile option. The traditional behavioral assessment can be done on a phone, but confirm your connection and environment first.
  • Read the consent screens. If proctoring is enabled, you will be asked about camera access, so decide before you begin.

FAQ

Is the Harver pymetrics test hard

It is not hard in the sense of right or wrong answers — the games measure behavioral traits, not correct responses. What candidates find difficult is the opacity, since it is unclear how your trait profile maps to a hire or reject decision.

How long is the Harver assessment

The pymetrics games take about 25 minutes across roughly 12 games. The traditional behavioral Harver assessment is shorter, around 7 to 12 minutes, and other modules vary by role.

Can you retake the Harver assessment

Not on your own. You must contact the employer, and only they can authorize a redo — and if approved, your account and all test data are deleted so you start over. The pymetrics games can only be replayed once every 330 days.

Do the pymetrics games have right or wrong answers

No. pymetrics states the games have no right or wrong answers and instead map your behavior to a trait profile compared against a role benchmark. Answering honestly and consistently is the recommended approach.

Does Harver use your camera

Only with proctoring enabled and only if you consent. Since April 2025, some vacancies use periodic photos viewable by the recruiter, plus copy-paste prevention and tab-switch detection, but consent can be optional or mandatory by vacancy and country.

Are pymetrics scores reused for other jobs

Yes. If you completed the games within the last 330 days, your existing gameplay data is re-assessed against new role profiles without replaying, which can include roles you did not originally apply for.
